It's been a year now, and if you've been diligently following us then... sorry about that.
The past year has been an absolute whirlwind, and things around The Cave and The Castle have been sort of insane in the membrane, if you catch my drift. We hope that you will remain faithful as we reboot and rebuild, after a year of duress!
Let's not dwell on the past (we'll save that for The Cave and The Castle), but instead forge ahead into the future!
This is Beauty, in case you were wondering. Caveman and I have been taking stock of our lives, which has led us to some interesting places. The first place was the kitchen, because the best place to think is in front of a snack. The second place was the fridge, where we forced ourselves to take stock of what we are putting into our bodies. Let me tell you, folks, it was NOT pretty.
Living in the frigid North, Caveman and I have just come out of winter. Unfortunately, the extra layers of fat that we packed on to keep us warm during hibernation are still there... probably because of our furnace and that fact that we don't hibernate. When we found ourselves face to face with the fridge, it was pretty easy for us to see where all of those extra layers had come from. Our fridge was packed full of SUGAR, DAIRY, and CARBS! While we don't have a problem with these things inherently (except for dairy, which does horrible thing to poor Caveman), we realized we were NOT practicing the theory of "moderation".
What this led us to realize was that it was time for another overhaul.
(insert super awesome segway here) What you may not know, dear reader, is that I - Beauty - have a little problem with anxiety. If I'm following a diet, or a lifestyle, or a whatever, I have to follow it to the T. If I don't, then I lose all semblance of self-control and throw my poor bloated body to the wolves (read: I eat what I want when I want, until I'm sick). Knowing this, Caveman stopped me before I could run to the shelf that contains all of our diet books.
What he said has changed our lives, and we hope will continue to do so, "Let's just eat simply. Nothing fancy, just simply."
So, that's what we're doing! We are eating simply.
Moving forward with this blog, we will be writing about the simple meals we eat together, as well as tidbits about our daily lives. If you want to know more details about either of our journeys, you can follow Caveman in The Cave, or me (Beauty) in The Castle.
I hope that you enjoyed this post, and that you will continue to follow us during this journey.
It's not going to be easy - but we know that we can do it, as long as we stick together.
